What Are Super Lice?
Unfortunately, super lice are not lice with little capes fighting crime. Super lice are a consequence of the overuse of chemicals to eradicate lice. When we say “over-the-counter lice products don’t work”, we are trying to say that these harsh chemicals only cause you potential harm and don’t eliminate the problem because they have grown immune to the chemicals used containing pyrethroids, such as permethrin.
Have we scared you yet? There is no need to panic as super lice are not necessarily any larger, stronger, or more aggressive than regular lice. Their herd immunity to over-the-counter products simply means they are harder to eradicate.
To be lice-free, you have to remove every egg and louse. If even one is left behind the infestation begins again, leaving you with a frustrating never-ending problem that will likely spread. So if what you can buy at the store is going to cause harm, and only somewhat get rid of the problem, what is the solution?
Here at Hair Fairies, our 25+ years of experience allows us to perfect our lice removal methods, and in this case, keeping it simple is the solution. The only way to get rid of lice is to manually nit-pick with natural products (which super lice have not grown immune to).
Check out this segment our founder, Maria, did on Dr. Oz explaining super lice and how our process of manual nit-picking coupled with our natural products is the best way to get rid of these pesky bugs!
