Lice Are Not Invited To Thanksgiving
Lice are not invited to the Thanksgiving table this year! As you plan to gather with family and friends this holiday season, it is important to remember lice prevention. Here are our tips for staying lice-free this Thanksgiving.
Discuss With Your Children
Before the festivities, remind your children that lice most commonly spread from head-to-head contact. It can be exciting to see cousins and family members, but remembering personal space is important when trying to avoid lice.
Don’t Share Personal Items
Normally sharing is caring but the next most common way lice are spread is by sharing personal items, like hats, brushes, scarves, or headphones. Remind your family that they should avoid using someone else’s items and not share theirs.
Inspect Items Afterwards
When you get home from Thanksgiving, it may be a good idea to inspect your children’s items for any signs of lice and keep them in a bag for a few days. Lice cannot survive more than 2 days without a blood source, so if there are any lice on their items they won’t survive to spread to other parts of your house or to any family members.
Conduct Lice Checks
When you get home from your holiday festivities do a quick lice check on your family. If you do find lice, then you can catch it early and handle it before it gets out of control. This also means that you can have peace of mind if you don’t find lice. Here is a quick guide on where and how to check for lice. If you are not sure, our Hair Fairies can help!
